At the Children’s Center for Dentistry in Normal, Illinois, we are built specifically to meet the needs of children. We cater to kids ages 0 to 18 years of age. Medicaid restrictions may apply.

Children have unique needs. Unlike adults, kid’s teeth are in a constant state of growth, development, and change, and we understand that here at the Children's Center for Dentistry.

We have found that kids over the age of 3 generally do better at dental appointments when they are allowed to attend the appointment accompanied by dental staff.  Each member of our staff is well-trained and experienced in helping children as well as reducing and eliminating anxiety and dental fears. While you are welcome to accompany your child, we do find that allowing children to attend dental visits on their own creates a better overall experience.

Preventive Care, Examinations, and Cleanings

We recommend twice-yearly examinations and cleanings for most of the patients we see. Regular examinations allow our doctors to monitor your child’s development and look for any developing problems or even situations that have the potential to develop into problems. This allows us to plan treatment in advance so that it can be performed at precisely the right time for the most benefit.

Our office also offers preventive treatments such as fluoride varnishes and sealants. While the water in our area is fluoridated, many families drink filtered or bottled water, which may mean that your child is not getting a sufficient supply of this valuable mineral. Studies have shown that fluoride that is applied to the teeth every six months by a professional decreases the incidence of tooth decay.

We also find that many children benefit from having sealants applied to the chewing surfaces of their teeth to prevent food and bacteria from being trapped in the grooves and creases of the teeth and causing cavities. If we feel that sealants may be right for your child, we’ll discuss this with you.

Restorative Care

Even our most meticulous brushers get cavities from time to time.  We offer a wide array of restorative materials and procedures to individually address every unique situation.  From fillings to crowns, extractions to space maintainers, pulpotomies to frenectomies; our doctors are able to offer comprehensive pediatric dental care for your child.

Emergency Care

Practically every child will have a dental emergency at some point in their childhood. Whether they caught a baseball with their teeth, fell off the swing onto their face, or woke up with an infection in their gums, you want to know that your child can receive prompt and effective treatment from a dentist you trust.

We offer same-day emergency dental appointments to our patients to treat pain, solve the problem, and plan treatment.

Sedation Dentistry

If your child is fearful of visiting the dentist or has special needs and is having difficulty getting the care he or she needs, sedation dentistry may be the solution. Our doctors are able to offer a number of sedation options to help your child have the most pleasant dental experience possible including nitrous oxide, oral conscious sedation, in-office deep sedation, and out-patient general anesthesia.
